Here is a visual argument for the power of education. The graph on the left shows the “poverty workforce” of workers earning less than $23,000 per year for a family of four. The right graph shows the total workforce.

Many European countries have engaged in austerity. Austerity can actually make it MORE difficult to get deficits under control. Greece, Portugal, Ireland, and Spain have been the leaders of this effort since 2009.
